It began with the typical alien invasion but instead of destroying cities, which there was some damage, they went to kidnapping strictly for the field agents sent out by SHIELD. They knew they couldn't do much in doing the same for Earth's Mightiest Heroes so why not settle for the people that work closely with them. They may not have powers but they held knowledge and could be easily manipulated.

Derek was one of the people sent out in the field, easily being snatched up in an ambush along with the rest of his team on their way into the city to offer help for a building collapse. Instead, they find themselves in some dark spaceship hold in individual cells in a circular formation. No one greeted them. No one bothered to check up on them for some time until they apparently landed somewhere. They couldn't do much in terms of fighting back because they could easily be overpowered by their captors.

They were handcuffed and dragged out of the ship in a line, none of them knew where they were by appearances but it looked to be some sort of city ruins. Derek and the rest of the team were guided into a different set of cells except they were grouped into one instead of individuals this time. The longer they waited, the more groups from Earth and other places seemed to be dragged in and placed into surrounding cells until all of them were occupied.

It was then that someone came to greet them, telling them they were going to be used in a widespread experiment and that they should give up hope of being found because no one will come looking. That's when the first group was chosen and guided out of the room, into the hallway before being separated into different rooms.

That's when the screaming started and it never stopped.

The experiment process went on for weeks, months even before each of them were dead-eyed and obedient. That was the first step they said. Then they were each give a collar, something to keep them in line with their group but also to aide in step two. One by one, they were led back into the rooms expect there was no screaming, only an eerie silence before one by one, they came back a little different than before.

Another group had come in that were going to be acting as fodder, they said. Handpicked test subjects were given one of the new captives and one by one, they were given free rein of whatever they wanted to do with them. The sights turned gruesome and unpleasant within a matter of seconds but the results seemed to please their captors and proved that thus far their experiment was a success.

By the time, they tested Derek's brainwashed hold, he proved to be one of the favorites purely by method alone. Instead of killing them quickly like others had or fucking them ruthlessly before killing them in the end, he played with his food so to speak. He led the captive into a false sense of security before knocking them out and pulling them apart from the inside one piece at a time until they woke up and panicked. Leading them to a faster death than Derek would have liked but it put on a good enough show that he was selected out of his group for another task. One that was on a much broader scale.

They placed him in a different cell, much roomier than the last until they ran another brainwashing exercise on him, giving him the order to rest until someone came to retrieve him.
